Hey!

I'm Adrien, a Ph.D. candidate and teaching assistant at the University of Geneva. I am interested in political behavior, institutional or not and more precisely by how citizens navigate between online and offline spaces. I am also very passionate about qualitative and interpretive methods. You can find my resume at the bottom of this page if you wish to know more.

After obtaining my M.A. in political science at the University of Geneva in August of 2022, I joined the political science and international relations department of the same institution in September of 2022.

If all goes well, I will defend my Ph.D. dissertation in 2026. In the meantime, I am teaching three seminars at the B.A. level (Seminar for the supervision of B.A. Theses, Qualitative Methods Seminar and Introduction to Scientific Reasoning) and one seminar at the M.A. level (Contemporary Challenges to Citizenship, Lecture given by Eva Fernandez Guzman Grassi).

For my Ph.D. I would like to further explore Vermont's hyperlocal social capital platform Front Porch Forum. My Master's thesis (under the supervision of Nathalie Giger and Lea Sgier) consisted of a three month fieldwork in Vermont during which I conducted interviews with a dozen of users of the platform. To put it in a nutshell, my ambition is to use a mix of methods to try and come up with a comprehensive ethnography of online citizenship and local democracy in the age of social media and digital tools.

Generally, I would say that I am interested in a lot of things : politics, art, literature, architecture, urbanism, cities… All of those are really different but they all have to deal with things I am passionate about : beauty, intelligence, difference and more broadly, the way that, we humans, organize and share the world that’s around us. The way we live and come together.

I love to travel, especially to the United-States. My goal is to visit all 50 states by the time I turn 25. I have already visited 45, so I am almost there. I am fascinated by all aspects of American society, culture and life. Most of my free time is dedicated to exploring American literature, music, history, politics and popular culture. I also love to hike in the Swiss Alps.

Feel free to reach out, I love meeting new interesting minds!

Thanks for your visit!
